Instillation

The graded unit has started... Oh it's getting tense. I really hope I do well through this... The themes are brilliant however.

For an intro project I was to create an instillation dedicated to my favourite artist, who of course is du du du! Drumroll please... Jenny Saville!!

Everything in my instillation has a conceptual meaning behind it but i'll let you think about that yourself rather than me sitting explaining everything.

Following the instillation, this was the initial research to the start of our graded unit. I've chosen to go with the theme of identity and I am going to look at gender identity. I am going to explore it physiologically, physically, politically and socially.

To begin with, I read that Saville takes close up images of herself after adding things to her figure so I have took my own approach to this and then painted from the images.

And here are my painted versions...

I'll try and update my blog as much as possible for anyone interested in my work :)

SOLD! Hammer slams...

Recently I've had a lot of requests to sell people my paintings, this is a huge compliment to me and I am very happy about this! Plus that means more money towards Fred Perry... eh what who said that??

These are the two which were posted off to their new homes this morning.

There really isn't a lot that's better than other people being interested in spending money on my art work to hang in their homes to look at every day. I mean after I do a piece I can barely look at it, i'm sick of seeing it so it's brilliant to have someone with a fresh pair of eyes look at it.

Doherty

Pete Doherty. Many have their opinions.

To me, Pete Doherty is my hero. I'm not a huge fangirl that will protect every bad thing said about him. He's got his bad aspects but as do me and you. As does the nicest person in the world. That can't be helped.

I, myself is very proud and happy to see Peter now clean, he seems to have a lot of more life within him and looks a lot more... Happy.

I do wish Peter all the happiness in the world as his music has brought to me.

This is a watercolour painting I done of my hero, Doherty.

The wildlife and me

I used to love drawing animals, it's all I ever wanted to draw. Infact animals are what I started off drawing when i was... as far back as I can remember put it that way.

Since school I haven't had much opportunity to draw animals as such as they tend not to fit any of my themes. Now it's that time of year, all my assessment work has been handed in and I have a little spare time I have decided to go back, after two years I have created some animal watercolour paintings which I really enjoyed doing.

I'm also happy with the way these guys have turned out! Note to self though, i'm gonna have to keep up with this painting and not let it slip again!

A painting a day keeps me sane...

Rosey Dress

MY FIRST DRESS! I MADE THIS! MY FIRST EVER DRESS! woo. Good way to recycle old bedsheets isn't it?

I still need to attach the collar and sleeves, it's currently inside out and held together with pins as I still need to sew it together, it's got it's basic shape however!

Printmaking, Stillness vs movement

My idea behind this is based on myself having my part time job in Asda. I feel stuck to within the huoding as customers come and go freely. I look forward to the day I can break out of Asda and work within a creative industry.

The stillness of the figures shows this. These are dry point prints.

The yellow is chin colle, these are deconstructed leg movements of customers coming and going and the idea that I want to be able to walk away.

The Red is monotype, this shows a contrast between my two ideas of movement vs stillness.
