Digital Art

I've never been one for digital art, i've always been one of those painters and print makers but this year i've allowed myself to be a lot more open. I've had a wide range of a field of my response to the human figure deconstructed which I have taken various responses to depending on what I am working with.

If you have read my previous blogs I have also created 2D, Printmaking and sculpture pieces all on the same theme, taking different approaches with what works best.

For my digital video art work I have taken the response to deconstruct my own body in various ways and show this in a video format as my response which i felt was the most successful way to do so.

Finished... Finished and finished!

I have finished my final piece! As of months of posting little updates... I know i'm bad at posting updates :( but it's finally here! This is my final piece and it's looking fantastic mounted on the wall! I wasn't too sure on it to start with but now it's up on the college wall I'm starting to like it. It's all ready for presentation tomorrow now!

These four pieces are a set. They are called "Movement".

Each canvas is filled with individual sketches on left behind receipts which I have done whilst at work. Then each canvas shows the different types of shoppers you get and what routes they may take around the store; I have a wondering shopper, a one thing shopper, a lost shopper and a family shopper.

I tea stained each canvas to get rid of the whiteness, I felt the whiteness took attention away from my sketches and also, painting the background didn't work well so I went with tea staining the pieces. I like this effect.

The black markings are made with dragging string along. If I could redo this I would experiment with objects to do this.

Oh I should probably say the brief was to create a response to the human figure in motion deconstructed.

Long live the left behind receipts.

After months on end of playing around with these receipt sketches that I do at work, I finally have came to a conclusion. I am currently creating this as my final piece now.

To do so, I am going to have 4 canvases, A3 sized with equally sized sketches of customers on receipts ontop of this canvas. I will tea stain each to get rid of the whiteness, bleugh.

Ontop I am going to ink up a piece of string and drag it across the canvas.

My idea behind this is to show the different routes that types of customers may take around the store.

I am specifically looking at the family shopper, the lost shopper, the one thing shopper and the wondering shopper.

Stay tuned for the final outcome! Woo.

Two weeks to go guys, two weeks... RUSH AND PANIC HITS IN NOW.

Sculptor Sculpt scul scu...

Sculpture has never... ever... ever been an area that I have been passionate about. I don't know why... Just something I can't seem to find enjoyment within.

I recently have been working on this relief sculpture. The idea behind it is the human figure in motion deconstructed.

I don't know. I quite like where this is going.

That time of year

It's getting to that time of year again when college deadlines are very... very close but on the other hand what do we have???

CHRISTMAS!

I am currently doing some of my Christmas shopping which i think is the best part! I love purchasing gifts for others.

I like to have a little personal touch on things also so I have made these hand made items to throw in with presents :).

I find all these adorable! My polymer clay fox with acrylic paint on top. My snowman and penguin mini snowglobs and my sock made snowman. Ahh ti's the season to be jolly... pa la la la la, lalala

My final idea

So, as I have been working throughout my 2d project in college of showing the figure in motion deconstructed... I have had many ideas but on the night before the assessment hand in I had one final... messy... maybe even weird idea.

For this, I painted my whole body and literally lay down on my sketchbook printing my figure as I knew with would appear deconstructed as some parts would print, others wouldn't.

Want to see the final piece? You'll have to wait a little longer as it's not done :(

Idols

My biggest idol, Peter Doherty.

Most people will call him a waste of space, a junkie and whatever other names you can think off but I can assure you. This man is anything but. Peter has helped many of his fans in ways that he doesn't even know.

Speaking on my own behalf. Everytime I've needed someone, every time i've felt as down as possible, every time i've felt like there was no way back up I always turned to Peter's music and I found comfort in his words, in his voice. Peter Doherty simply ins't someone to fan girl over, nor be a massive over reactive fan. He is a hero, an idol. He has his bad point's but don't we all?? Of course we do. We've all made bad choices so why does he get so much shit just because he is "famous"?

He has let people down, fans down countless amounts of times but we still stand by him. Why? He's so down to earth, he doesn't act like he's famous, he doesn't think hes better. Listen to his words and you'll understand what he thinks of himself. Peter Doherty is a poet. A beautiful poet.

I've stood outside his gigs for hours before the doors open, the day he came out, introduced himself and asked my name was the best day of my life. He complimented my hair and gave me a free gig tshirt. How many celebs do you see doing this every day?

Peter Doherty is my hero, always will be. He has encouraged me to pull through and keep going through the darkest times. He has inspired my art work. He has inspired me to look above everyones bad aspects.

Anyone who thinks anything other than this of Peter, take some time to actually listen to his words, don't just judge him for what the media provoke. They have it out for him. Look into the real Peter.

My charcoal drawing in dedication.

Christmas is coming!

Every year it's the same. There are two types of people.

There are those who cannot wait for Christmas as soon as the cold weather comes around and gets excited at every aspect of the town's lights going up, going Christmas shopping, cosy fluffy pj days in, hot chocolate, decorating the house! and so on...

And then theres those who hate the every essence of the cold, wait until the last second to decorate, constantly say it's too early...

Guess what one I am? hahaha

From taking a break from my course work as I don't work to work into it and make a mess when I am not in the mood to do so, I created this little guy. My very own snowman!

I am considering creating and selling some of these closer to Christmas! I think they look great! Cute little things... of course they won't all be pink though...

Life drawing

An older life drawing which I had done. Who needs "normal" flesh colours right? I love to have a little play around with the figure.

Something about the human figure which I love to draw, the curves, the shapes, the lines, the composition. It's all memorizing.

Soft Pastel.

This year is was bored of doig the same old faces and so on and so forth so instead I created an american horror story styled pumpkin as I felt it suited. Also ahs is my favourite just now.

"Normal people scare me" who wants to be normal right? From Tate langdon's tshirt

Human figure deconstructed.

Well. I have always been a painter/illustrator. I never ventured far from these areas until the last two years... I have found a love for photography and printmaking within this time. One thing that I can't get my heart into is Sculpture. Maybe it's because I have a two dimensional mind or maybe I just don't like being completely crafty and molding with my hands. Whatever it is, I can't seem to get my heart into sculpture as I would with painting.

Here is what I did today... Playing around and sketching with clay. I took the shapes from previous drawings which I had done to come up with this.

Dog walking

I always find it fascinating, animals in wildlife so I will always take walking my dog as an opportunity to snap some images of him in the wild.

"A Child's Dream"

This is my latest little piece. This piece is one that I am happy with for my figure deconstructed in motion theme at college.

This piece has more to it, however.

It is a watercolour, acrylic painting with digital art combined.

My meaning behind this piece is a child, this is a child which I had sketched whilst I was at work (in a non... creepy way). I painted a piece of cardboard in warm, homely colours which we associate with safety. I then cut into the paint with sissors to draw this little childs movement.

I added watercolour to some parts to add further aspects of movement (I felt wateroclour brush marks where successfull at this)

On top is a photoshop edited image of the movement of my legs, this isn't just to show movement... the idea behind this is much deeper.

My meaning behind this overall, to make this make more sense to you is that the child represents my childhood dreams of working within a creative industry. Making art for living. The legs in different directions are to symbolise the different directions you can go in life, for example right now I am working part time in asda as well as studying full time... day five years time I am hoping to be starting or newly in a creative career.

I hope you do take your own ideas away from my piece, as I have said this is simply my meaning behind this piece that I created. You could have a completely different interpenetration.

As much as I love my full fringe, it is the bain of my life. It constantly needs trimmed and cared for. It's like a living pet, well I suppose hair is living so.

I couldn't be without my fringe however.

My fringe on that note, does have a mind of it's own. Look here, you see?? Crazy little guy. He's not a full fringe right now is he. Someone's had a little too much to drink on a Saturday night I think...

Engagement... Money or onion ring?

I've seen many girls say they would turn down a marriage proposal from their partner if the ring wasn't "too their standard" weather it be "ugly" to them or whether it doesn't cost into the thousands.

What if they had been your partner for 6+ years or whatever, are you really going to have the heart of stone to say no to marriage on the bases of the ring? The ring is an object, it has no meaning. The meaning comes in the relationship, the meaning is what you out there. The ring is nearly a symbol but it's not messesary in my opinion.

Does the ring matter?
Does the ring matter?
Does the ring matter?

Are you really going to say no to the person you "love" based on an object.

My World

We all love the idea of having an escape don't we? My idea is to create this imaginative world, I have had this world ever since I was little. I may sound crazy I know but ey anything that makes you feel better right?

Well, if you're still here and haven't ran off then cool! Hey still :). I wanted to share some insights to my world with you guys. My world doesn't have people, meerly only animals as I dislike people (Morrissey alert). Animals on the other hand, cannot talk back, look pleasing, are fluffy and just 100x better. Ever since I was little I felt this way.

I took a huge influence from my soft toys, I would dress them up in clothing and give them human like aspects. I done this because I felt animals are greatly mistreated in our world. I have always thought who are we to be above animals in this world? What makes us any more special than them? I want animals to be equal to humans.

In this world that I created, I have various characters. My favourite character is Taint who is a fox. Taint is shy, timmid and tends to hide from the world a lot. I put a lot of my own personality into Taint.

Then there is Red, Taint's father who is high and mighty, everyone looks up to Red and expects Taint to be just like him but this is not Taint.

There is also Nello the Elephant. Nello is a loud character, who tends to like to know everyones busyness. Nello will invite everyone around for tea etc just to get some gossip and so on...

There are many more characters than these two go but here they are... two of the creatures who live in my world.

Digital Painting

I heard someone say the other day that Painting is dead because of technology taking over. I wanted to prove this statement wrong. I ironically created this digital painting of myself and Robbie.

Is painting dead? I don't think so. Do you?

Prints for sale

I use a website called RedBubble to create things from tshirts, jumpers, prints, cards, bags, pillows, bed covers and so on with my work on them.

On here, I have a British music collection, American Horror Story pieces, Illustrative quirky animals, Animals and various others, check it out here! Pleaaaaase :(. I'd appreciate it even if you had a tiny little eenie weenie peak at some of m things and give some feedback!

Here are two recent examples of quirky animals :)

Dress making, is it for me?

Planning a night out? Know exactly what style of dress it is you want but somehow nothing comes close to it? I am terrible for doing this so I decided to give it a go with making my own dresses, how cool huh? At least I thought it is.

This is an experimental piece I created, I done this without a pattern and without sizing, by hand also just to see if a dress I visioned could come out the way I imagine it to. It did.

Should I go forward and continue creating clothing? Maybe I could sell some, make my own mini business on the side of creating my Art works.

Hmm, any comments?

Collograph, my first print.

My first collograph print, I found this little thing very fidely but interesting and I was very excited to get this printed to see how it would turn out.

This print is influenced by my views of Lanzarote, the buildings, the trees, the sculpture and especially the fencing.

On my way to College

I have been continuing using the water soluble pencils. I done this sketch of Wallace Monument, one of the views I see on my way to college. I experimented with bold areas to make the majority of the image up.

Commision

Watersoluable pencils are maybe the best thing I have ever come across! I love using these things! They are completely brilliant. This is a commission piece which I had created for a family member Baby John, my cousin's child.

It's up high here, isn't it?

The most beautiful views I have ever seen have been from a airplane window, the views from being up in the air are extraordinary. Something out of the usual same old. Scenes which you don't experience everyday. I thought I would share a few I snapped.

Mono Scotland

I have always have a love for black and white Photography, there's something about it which draws me in.

I tend to take my dog, Diesel a walk in woodland areas quite regularly, I find the surroundings beautiful, calming... I like the quietness and being alone for some amount of time. It;s good to get some head space and I ca get some little sketches etc done.

Here is a photography which i had taken of a leave on a tree which I find very interesting. This tree stands along, myself and my friends used to play around this tree when we were younger, we called it the "witches tree".

This is my Scottish Autumn photography from the witches tree.

Old and New, what's the difference?

Photography has never been a main section for myself although I do enjoy it. I play around with a lot of different ideas but never go extremely far with them.

Here is one idea I played around with the idea of transitions, looking at old and new.

I found some old family images which I found very interesting, I then went back to the areas in which these photos where originally taken and then I took new images of these areas. I then combined the two images together to show a contrast between old and new.

I felt this worked extremely well and I am very happy with the outcome of these images.

My idol, my hero. I actually lived to see this??

5th of July. I made my way down to London for the first time. Ey London's always looked like a fantastic place to me and i've always desired to visit it and here was my chance, a trip which I had planned soley by myself.

5th of July, a very important date. You know the feeling you get when your favourite band split up? I was too young when mines did and I never had the chance to see them live. But take that feeling and then image the band coming back for a few one off gigs. You HAVE to be there right?

Glasgow sold out in seconds! I heartbreakingly could not make the Barrowlands so it was down to Hyde Park I went!

The Libertines, YES I am talking about the Libertines are Hyde park!

Where you there??? It was fantastic!

I done a few memory sketches which down in London, here they are :). Various medias.
